Mimosa Midwives
Mimosa Midwives provide a bespoke one-to-one service for clients, utilising all combined clinical midwifery knowledge and skills. We also provide alternative and holistic therapies and approach our support to women with an eye for using creativity to enhance the physiological process of childbirth.
Our team has qualified reflexologist, massage therapists for mother and baby, aquanatal instructors, lecturers, and have undertaken training in supporting refugees, asylum seeking women and women with other high social needs. We are able to support women with issues of domestic violence having undertaken the VEV training with West Midlands Police; whilst being well placed to signpost as necessary.
We specialise in supporting women who wish to make informed decisions about childbirth, and promote shared decision making throughout. We pride ourselves in how we care for women who are anxious or shy and lack confidence. We work with them to move towards self -empowerment and choices which meet their needs, rather than accepting the status quo.
Our values
We align ourselves with the ethos of the Mimosa. Mimosa is a sensitive plant; it is gentle but hardy. The leaves close up for protection when disturbed. In the plant world it is not considered to be particularly significant. It is thought of mostly as a weed; but taken by itself it is beautiful in a delicate sort of a way.
Our practice then mirrors the plant.
We are sensitive, gentle midwives giving sensitive and gentle care; but firm and hardy when required to be.
Working within our Midwives Rules and Code of Conduct, attaining a high level of timely expert care tailored to the woman's needs.
Ever flexible, we are her advocates, protecting her space to birth with dignity and in privacy. We commit to work well as a team within ourselves, leading appreciatively within our profession.
There is also a spiritual aspect embedded in working in this way, which is felt rather than seen or talked about.
